Screenwriting Hollywood Loves

The First Rule of Successful Screenwriting

Tags: It's all about content

In this era of computer generated special effects, where even settings and characters can be computer created, it's easy for writers to think more in terms of the vast array of applications available than to consider the story to be told. But, story is always king. Movies fail or succeed primarily because of the story, not because there was a really honkin' leap off a shuttle re-entering earth's atmosphere or any large or small scale effect. Story hold everything else together, and you can't yet get that from a computer.
